Progressive Taxes, Tax Refunds and Redistribution of Wealth

3342-0
Ten friends who grew up together used to get together for dinner every Saturday night. Although they originally grew up in the same neighborhood, they took different paths in life, so their income was NOT the same.
Every Saturday night, they each would order a $10 meal and when the waiter brought the bill, they would split the $100 bill according to their financial means.

Diners #1, #2, #3 and #4 were low income laborers, so it was decided that their portion of the bill was ZERO.

Diner #5 had a little better job as a skilled laborer, so his portion of the weekly bill was $1.

Diner #6 was foreman and his income allowed him to pay $2 toward the weekly dinner bill.

 Diner #7 was a trucker
and his income allowed him to pay $5 towards the weekly dinner bill.

Diner #8 was a small business owner and his income allowed him to pay for his dinner without burdening the others, so he paid $10

Diner #9 was a Physician, with much higher income, so he agreed to pay $23

Diner #10 was the president of a multinational bank, with much higher income, so his portion of the weekly bill was $59.

They went along with this financial arrangement for several years.

One day, the restaurant owner was able to negotiate better prices from his suppliers and this allowed him to lower his prices by 20%. So the weekly dinner bill for the 10 friends was now $80 and he decided to refund the $20 difference to the group of friends. He agreed to refund the money in proportion to what they were paying every week.

Diners #1, #2, #3 and #4 (The low income Laborers) never paid for their meals, so they received $0 refund.

 Diner #5 (The skilled Laborer)
received a refund of $1 making his new share of the dinner $0.

Diner #6 (The Foreman) received a refund of $2 making his new share cost of the dinner also $0.

Diner #7 (The Trucker) received a refund of $2 making his new share cost for the dinner $3.

Diner #8 (The Small Business Owner) received a refund of $3 making his new share cost of the  dinner $7.

Diner #9 (The Physician) received a refund of $4 making his new share $19

Diner #10 (The President of the Multi-national
bank received a refund of $8 bringing his new share for the weekly meal to $51.

Diners #1, #2, #3 and #4 were outraged that they received NO refund

Diner #5 says, "Hey, I only got $1 refund while those two fat cats got $12 between them.”

Diner #6 and #7 chimed in and said "We only got a $2 refund each, this is NOT fair!"

Diner #8 was happy that his new bill allowed him to pay a little less and thanked Diners #9 and #10 for helping him out.

So, Diners #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 and #7 decided that unless Diners #9 and #10 shared their refunds EQUALLY among the rest, they were going to riot.

The Town's Mayor, (Mr. Barry NoVamos) came in and said, "We cannot have a riot in this town. Diners #9 and #10 have received a disproportionate WINDFALL and they MUST split their refund equally with the rest. We MUST redistribute the wealth in order for this town to prosper.”

The following Saturday, Diners #8, #9 and #10 didn't show up for the weekly dinner and now Diners #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 and #7 don't have the money to pay for their new $56 dinner bill for the seven of them.

MORAL #1: Be careful of what you wish for 'cause you might just get it.

MORAL #2: Wealth redistribution NEVER works.

The Edward Snowden Interview the US Media Blacked Out But You Need To See

One week ago, National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden was interviewed on the German television network ARD. What many Americans may be unaware of is that the Edward Snowden interview was intentionally blocked from the US public with none of the major new outlets covering the interview or its contents. YouTube has even taken steps to remove the post as soon as it is reposted.
The video got a wide viewing in Europe and it is not only an important interview when it comes to the vast surveillance state that is currently constructed, but is also still future.
Snowden explained to German television (oh the irony here is rich) how tyrannical surveillance programs erode human rights and individual liberty and freedom.
According to Snowden, his "breaking point" was "seeing Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, directly lie under oath to Congress" with his denial of the existence of a domestic spying programs in March 2013.
Snowden continued, "The public had a right to know about these programs. The public had a right to know that which the government is doing in its name, and that which the government is doing against the public."
One has to wonder about the complicity of the media in blacking out vital information that exposes the criminal activity of the federal government. While many debate whether or not Edward Snowden is a hero or a traitor, Snowden decided to answer for himself.
"If I am traitor, who did I betray?" he asked. "I gave all my information to the American public, to American journalists who are reporting on American issues. If they see that as treason, I think people really need to consider who they think they're working for. The public is supposed to be their boss, not their enemy. Beyond that as far as my personal safety, I'll never be fully safe until these systems have changed."
Not only has the media been in bed with the Obama administration to attempt to paint Snowden in a bad light, while virtually ignoring the criminal law breaking of the federal government, specifically the Fourth Amendment, but apparently many in government has said they would be more than willing to assassinate Snowden, which is something he feared.
Benny Johnson reported:
"In a world where I would not be restricted from killing an American, I personally would go and kill him myself," a current NSA analyst told BuzzFeed. "A lot of people share this sentiment."

"I would love to put a bullet in his head," one Pentagon official, a former special forces officer, said bluntly. "I do not take pleasure in taking another human beings life, having to do it in uniform, but he is single-handedly the greatest traitor in American history."

"His name is cursed every day over here," a defense contractor told BuzzFeed, speaking from an overseas intelligence collections base. "Most everyone I talk to says he needs to be tried and hung, forget the trial and just hang him."

One Army intelligence officer even offered BuzzFeed a chillingly detailed fantasy.

"I think if we had the chance, we would end it very quickly," he said. "Just casually walking on the streets of Moscow, coming back from buying his groceries. Going back to his flat and he is casually poked by a passerby. He thinks nothing of it at the time starts to feel a little woozy and thinks it's a parasite from the local water. He goes home very innocently and next thing you know he dies in the shower."

I'd say we have a lot more to fear from a tyrannical federal government than Edward Snowden. It's an amazing thing when traitors occupy positions of power, while those that simply expose their criminal conduct are said to be guilty of the same.
