The Stockholm Syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages exhibit irrational empathy, sympathy and
positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of
defending them, or apologizing to them. In other words, crime victims
are in a state of denial about who the bad guy is, and eventually they
take the side of the criminals who control their lives and threaten to
kill them. Today’s GOP establishment appears to suffer from this mental disorder.
